The Sensitivity Of The Spirit.

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God." - 1 John 4:1.
A visitor walked into a shop owned by an old watchmaker. The shop was filled with hundreds of clocks, and every single one of them was ticking loudly. Suddenly, the visitor noticed that the watchmaker was listening very closely to one specific pocket watch. The visitor asked, "How can you possibly hear one watch over all this noise?" The watchmaker smiled, pointed to his ear, and said, "They are all making their sound but I listen to one." The world is full of loud voices—worries, news, and opinions. We must train our spiritual ears to listen only for the voice of God.
In a world filled with constant noise and distractions, you can train yourself to hear only God by intentionally making space for silence. By stepping away from the daily chaos, you create the quiet environment needed to focus on His voice. You must regularly set aside time to read and study the Bible. Immersing yourself in His written word acts as a filter, allowing you to recognize what aligns with His character when other voices speak. Consistently engaging in prayer builds a direct relationship with God, helping you shift focus from worldly concerns to His presence, making His guidance easier to recognize.
Constant exposure to media, news, and social chatter easily overpowers the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit. To focus on God, you must intentionally limit the secular voices that shape your daily thoughts. Fasting from unnecessary noise—such as excessive screen time or worldly entertainment—clears the mental clutter. This discipline allows you to replace worldly anxiety with heavenly peace. Because many thoughts and desires fight for your attention, you must test what you hear against the teachings of God. Every divine prompting will always align perfectly with biblical truth and the loving nature of God. If an inner voice encourages you to act with kindness, forgiveness, and peace, it is likely the Spirit of God. Conversely, messages that promote confusion, bitterness, or sin do not come from Him. Selah!
