To Roadmap To Contentment.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matt. 11:28-30.

A preacher once told a story about a successful peasant farmer who was not satisfied with all he had. He wanted more of everything. One day he received an offer. For 100 dollars, he could buy all the land he could walk around in a day. The only catch in the deal was that he had to be back at his starting point by sundown. Early the next morning he started out walking at a fast pace. By midday he was very tired, but he kept going, covering more and more ground. Well into the afternoon he realized that his greed had taken him far from the starting point. He quickened his pace and as the sun began to sink low in the sky, he began to run, knowing that if he did not make it back by sundown the opportunity to become an even bigger landholder would be lost. As the sun began to sink below the horizon he came within sight of the finish line.

Gasping for breath, his heart pounding, he called upon every bit of strength left in his body and staggered across the line just before the sun disappeared. He immediately collapsed, blood streaming from his mouth. In a few minutes he was dead. Afterwards, his servants dug a small grave buried, none of his possessions were buried with him. There are a couple of lies that the enemy sells to us in this generation. Lies like: you can have it all. This lie suggests you can maximize every area of life simultaneously—achieving top-tier career success, perfect health, a spotless home, thriving relationships, and endless leisure—all at once. The reality of life is that we have limited time and energy. Trying to have "it all" usually results in having nothing functioning well because resources are spread too thin, causing exhaustion of body, soul, and spirit. Choose your battles well.

Another lie that is sold to this generation is that, you should do it all, be an all rounder. This lie tells us that if we are capable of doing something, we are obligated to do it. It leads to taking on too many commitments and becoming overloaded with tasks that aren't actually ours to handle. The pressure to do more does not make you more worthy or productive. Doing more often brings less peace and efficiency. It is wiser to set boundaries and focus on what is essential. One more lie is that they tell you that you deserve it all. For me, this is nothing short of entitlement mentality. It drives a compulsive need for more money, more achievements, and a higher lifestyle, which pushes people into unnecessary debt and anxiety. The reality is that contentment is not found in accumulation. According to this perspective, peace comes from accepting what you have and who you are, rather than constantly striving for more to fill a void. Selah!

Teach me to trust in Your daily provision, just as You nourish the birds of the air, and to live in the freedom that comes from knowing You are my provider. I receive daily supernatural care and supplies in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
