Training For Reigning.

"For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ". Rom. 5:17.

It was 1972 in Munich. A relatively unknown swimmer was poised at the edge of the pool awaiting the firing of the starting gun. It was his first time in the Olympics and he had made it to the finals. The gun sounded and he dived into the pool and swam with all his strength. Moments later he had won the gold medal and set a new world record at the same time. The next day he swam again, and again won another gold medal and, amazingly, he again won it in world record time. He swam seven races in Munich, won seven gold medals and, incredibly, established seven new world records. It was one of the greatest feats in Olympic history. The entire world suddenly knew the name of Mark Spitz. 

But behind the glory was a dedication to training that had seen Mark swimming and lifting weights hour after hour, day after day, year after year, in preparation for the 1972 Olympics. His winning was not luck or chance but the end result of all the work he had put into his sport. He had the heart of a champion, and the dedication of one who knows what he wants and what he has to do to achieve it. Mark Spitz has said: “We all love to win, but how many people love to train?” I think this is where the real issue is with all human beings and believers alike. Ultimately, we are called to reign in life, there is accurate training for reigning. To come out the best you can be as a Christian involves a holistic approach to personal development, focusing on spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social growth. I do hope you are willing to pay the price to be the best version of yourself.

Christian growth is not passive; it requires active obedience to God's commands and living with integrity in all areas of life. God calls us to work with all our heart, not for human approval, but for His glory, developing our skills and using our talents effectively. Every child of God is gifted and endowed with latent abilities such that if developed can produce a fulfilling life. But not every believer ends up being able to sharpen his abilities enough to achieve perfect results. As we gradually come to the end of this beautiful year, it's time to train yourself for achievements in the year ahead. God wants you victorious, you must however labour to achieve the desired ends, may every resource needed for you to be the best be unleashed upon your life and your path in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
