Understanding God's Love.

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom. 8:38-39.

Think about the sun for a moment. It rises every single day. It shines on the just and the unjust, the grateful and the oblivious. It gives warmth, light, and life whether you notice it or not. But sometimes — clouds roll in. You wake up to gray skies. You can’t feel the sun’s heat. You don’t see the rays shining through. Maybe, if the storm is strong enough, it feels like the sun is gone. But of course, it isn’t. It’s still there. Still burning. Still giving light. Still holding the solar system together. The clouds don’t stop the sun — they just block your view. And isn’t that exactly how God’s love is? You go through storms. You face discouragement. You wrestle with guilt or grief. And in those moments, it can feel like God is distant. Like maybe His love was temporary or conditional.

But feelings don’t change facts. Our text says  nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. 

Not even your own doubt. God’s love doesn’t flicker like a candle — it blazes like the sun. And even if you can’t feel it… even if the clouds of your circumstances block your view… His love has not moved. He is still shining. Still sustaining. Still loving you — right now. God's unconditional love is meant to inspire and comfort us. This characteristic reminds us that we are loved and valued no matter what. It's a source of strength and hope, especially during difficult times. It's your responsibility to respond to God's love through your acceptance and embrace. 

God's love is sacrificial. This means it involves His willingness to give up something valuable. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to the cross at Calvary for our benefit—to pay our sin debt. This is often called atonement, which refers to God's sacrifice of His son. That sacrifice was necessary to pay the penalty for our sins and to reconcile us with a holy God. If we have embraced His love, it should influence the way we live and love. Calvary became a turning point for humanity. Before Calvary men live according to their passion and desires. After Calvary we must now live according to His passion and design for our lives. If you have found the love of Jesus, don't hold it back, let it go round and share with anyone who comes around you. selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. I thank you that there is no human experience that I might walk through where your love cannot reach me. If I climb the highest mountain you are there and yet if I find myself in the darkest valley of my life, you are there. Teach me today to recognise your love everywhere, in everything and to be able to share your sacrificial love everywhere I go and in everything I do for the furtherance of the gospel in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
