Sun. April 21st. 2024.

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called. Eph. 4:1.

I read the  story of two ladies who are recovering from a stroke. Each had suffered an incapacitating stroke. Margaret’s stroke left her left side restricted, while Ruth’s stroke damaged her right side. Both of these ladies were accomplished pianists but had given up hope of ever playing again. The director of the centre where they were sat them down at a piano and encouraged them to play solo pieces together. They did, and a beautiful friendship developed. Each playing for the other in their area of strength and deficiency. What a picture of the church’s needing to work together! What one member cannot do alone, perhaps two or more could do together; in harmony.

The only way we will move forward as a powerful force for the gospel in our world is together. When I say together, I mean all believers in Jesus. Paul in our text encouraged us to walk worthy of our calling. So, walking worthy of your calling simply means exhibiting godly character, morals, integrity, and behaviour. Paul is saying that we need to conduct ourselves in a way that shows we are called by God, and living by His standards—not the worlds’. Part of the standard God expects of us is the standard of cooperation. We are the body of Christ. We are still one church. We must learn to throw away our differences and make up our minds to work together to achieve God’s Counsel for our lives and the gospel.

It has been accurately said that the man who holds the ladder at the bottom is as important as the man at the top. Everybody wants to be the man on the top, but the one at the top will not be there without the effort of the man at the bottom. If he is wise, the man at the top will recognize the importance of the man at the bottom. If he does not recognize it, he may find his ladder slipping away! Our partnership should go beyond a theoretical thumbs-up. Let’s actually move into missions together and connect in meaningful ways. We must collaborate whenever it makes sense. We must set aside our differences for the sake of the kingdom, if we must meet Jesus face to face at his coming, let’s quit the life that is not pleasing to Him.

FURTHER READING:

“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;” Phil. 2:27.

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Col. 1:10.

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, thank You for another day, I declare today that Your will is done in my life. I declare no weapon that is formed against me shall stand.
