“I tell you the solemn truth, you will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.” John. 16:20.

What would you think if you lived in a place with no clouds, no rain, no storms, just sunshine, sunshine, sunshine? You know, there’s a place like that. I read about it some time ago. It’s in Northern Chile between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, beautiful sunrises and beautiful sunsets because there are no clouds to obstruct. It has virtually no rainfall. When you read about it, it sounds like a perfect place, a paradise on earth, but then it’s said about this place, “It is a sterile, desolate wilderness with no streams of water and no vegetation.” You know, in life we all have a longing to avoid sorrow and not experience the storms of life. We want to avoid those at all costs.

We want to live a life where you go through unscathed – no heartache, no pain, no tears. But we know life’s not like that. We know that is impossible. I guess everyone reading this now has gone through one heart ache or the other, those heart aches prepared you for where you are now. They prepared you for who you are and what you will eventually become. Behind all our smiles are one story or the other. Don’t become so well adjusted to sorrows such that you stop seeing the bright cloud. Your ray of hope is rising again. This dark cloud will pass away. The sun will shine again.

Jesus taught and promised amazing things to His disciples the night before He died. One of these amazing promises is that they would have a fullness of joy that no one would be able to take away. He promised joy that would remain with them even in the midst of suffering. He clearly said the world may rejoice while you sorrow, don’t worry your sorrows will be turned to joy. The very character of God is one who restores. In all the times you have felt pains and sorrows, God promises to redeem. No one else has the power to do what only He can do, for nothing is impossible for Him! He can do in just a moment what would take years for us to work through on our own. If we’ve ever felt we’ve lost so much time in the darkness and despair of our journey, we can take heart in knowing that He still has more ahead. He is faithful to work wonders for His people. When you come to the end of yourself, there you will find God. He stands above and beyond anything we can imagine. No matter your story, hold on, God will eventually come through for you. You will testify of His Goodness.
