Your Tongue Determine Your Destiny.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” Prov. 18:21.

There's a classic philosophical tale about a wealthy Greek man in ancient times who ordered his servant to prepare the best and most expensive feast possible for his guests. His servant went to the market and bought only one ingredient: tongue. He served the tongue cooked in various ways. When the master asked why there was nothing but tongue, his servant replied, "The tongue is the best of things. With it we can speak truth, express love, defend the innocent, and praise God." Days later, the man demanded his servant prepare the absolute worst and cheapest dish imaginable. His servant went to the market and returned with the exact same ingredient: tongue. He explained, "The tongue is the worst of things. With it we can destroy reputations, spread lies, crush spirits, and curse God." 

How exactly do you use your tongue? Negatively or positively? Words are more than mere sounds; they are spiritual tools that shape our realities and relationships. The choices we make with our speech either establish life or invite destruction. The profound weight of our tongue in our spoken words is the defining of our reality is quite unimaginable in the impact on our lives. What we choose to verbalize carries immense consequences, acting as a spiritual catalyst that directly shapes our everyday circumstances. Our words carry immense creative force and can determine the trajectory of our circumstances, relationships, and even our spiritual vitality. When we use our tongues positively to declare God’s promises, we invite His life-giving power into our lives. 

We are encouraged to utilize our speech to actively speak hope and joy over others rather than yielding to defeatism. We set our own course by our regular, conversational declarations. A negative tongue manifests in boasting, falsehood, and destructive pride. Speaking arrogantly or dishonestly not only harms others but fundamentally damages the speaker's own character and standing before God, revealing a divided heart.

A positive tongue, conversely, acts as a source of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Wise and gentle words mend broken spirits, offering comfort to the weary and bringing peace into tense or hostile environments rather than inflaming them. Selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, give me the discipline to pause before I speak so that I only use my words to build up and edify those around me, rather than tear them down. I choose to speak purpose, faith, and blessings over my own life and the destinies of others. Remove any negative or destructive speech from my vocabulary, and let my tongue be an instrument of healing, peace, and destiny-building. In Jesus' name, Amen!
